Please post here all your comments regarding new Dell XPS 13 9350, whether you already have one, or ordered it or waiting to see reviews before buy.
Particularly I have a 9343 which I'm planning to give to my daughter and buy the new model.

    Regards.

Edit 12/08/15: I Just received my new Dell XPS 13 9350 :)... and my daughter her XPS 13 9343 :p.

Dell is taking orders on these now with an estimated 8-10 day delivery time frame.

Most interested to hear whether the new, larger trackpad will indeed be improved. Also curious if the auto-dim "feature" on the Gen 1 version will be removed/resolved on the 9350.

I'm very interested in this, too. The answer is relevant to my decisions to buy and whether I spring for a touchscreen.

Dell XPS with Windows 10 fresh installed vs Microsoft Signature edition. Do I get the same performance results?
I ask this because I'm looking for the best value price.

I see that here and in Dell's advert they seem to be saying the XPS 13 9350 has upgradable RAM (DDR4) talking about 32GB in future.

This makes me think it's worth getting the 8GB QHD+ version with 256GB SSD. Then upgrade the SSD and RAM later when the price comes down a bit.

Be interesting to see what speed PCIe SSD is supported by the M.2 slot, some of these drives can do over 2GBytes / second! You can still buy PC2100 RAM that is only that fast...

I think the USB C Thunderbolt is very interesting indeed. The idea of connecting to an external full blown desktop graphics card and 4K monitor would be very nice.

I don't think RAM will be upgradable because :
    - Broadwell XPS and Skylake XPS shares A LOT of characteristics, and Broadwell version has soldered RAM
    - Dell website mention "On Board" memory slot
    - There's no mention of removable RAM in the service manual : http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/a...p/xps-13-9350-laptop_Service Manual_en-us.pdf

Maybe the guy got confused with a future 32Gb version of the laptop ?

Maybe wishful thinking on my part! This video also says"expandable to 16gb"

But you are right it would be in the manual.

A pity as I didn't really want to get the £1349 one just to get 16gb RAM and a mediocre SSD that I will replace in due course...

They likely meant RAM is 'upgrade-able' during the ordering process. Even with a future model, 32GB would still be soldered to the board. I doubt it will ever be user replace-able due to the size limitation. One of the reasons I still enjoy my 17" precision 6400, all parts are still modular.

To a lesser extent than some of the older dell models, yes. For example I upgraded the cpu on the 6400 from a dual core to the QX9300 quad and can replace the graphics card easily, these abilities are less common now. One of the main reasons I changed my mind from the 13 is because of the ram slots. I originally wanted the i5 FHD with 16GB if it was an option. Since it's not, the 15 is a better value for me long term. I'm sure the new 13 FHD should improve battery life, it'll be interesting to see how it compares to broadwell.

Pre-ordered a dell xps 13 from France, should arrive by the end of the month.
Since everything is soldered and PciE M.2 SSD are uber-expensive i pre-ordered the 512GB SSD + 16 GB ram IGZO panel version :), this ultrabook is wonderful, it screams quality ! Can't wait to have it .

They seem to have fixed the touchpad problems and, hopefully, the auto-brightness issue, add to that extra battery life with a bigger battery + skylake :). Thankfully i didn't order the broadwell version and waited for the skylake one !

Is there a reason why the top-spec XPS 13 Skylake isn't available with Linux, ie project sputnik? Can I buy the Windows version and then install Linux on it and have everything work?

The RAM is soldered on the 13. What you see ( and order) is what you get.

Ordered my i5/8/256 FHD on 12 October, initally promised 6-8 days for delivery but that's now been pushed back to 29 October earliest. Finally had confirmation from Dell that this was due to a parts shortage ... so we'll see.

As I'm a first-time Dell buyer, I was quite surpised that it took an entire week for them to answer my email query. They said they had an email backlog. Their online chat has been busy and unavailable every time I've checked, and they stop answering order queries by phone at 5pm. Is this standard of service normal with Dell? Not very promising if so ...

if this 2nd gen infinity display can do all these things, it'll be an even bigger hit than the original..

    1. improve touchpad
    2. quiet fan
    3. fix auto-dimming issue

these were the 3 most common complaints from owners and which caused a great number of returns

    Fan problem ?
Nope, the fan sound wasn't a big issue, but some keyboard bugs were.

list of things that got improved :
    1) touchpad (bigger, they definitely changed it)
    2) Battery life (56Whr + Skylake)
    3) Fan sound : Skylake = more efficient and heat less.

i just hope i could add NO auto-dimming to that list.

Clearly, if i still see that auto-dimming on the screen my ultrabook will go back to Dell day one... and be replaced by a surface book, people complained A LOT, if they ignored their customers then no thanks.

I ordered mine, probably the first guy who pre-ordered it in France ^^, I7 512GB SSD QHD+. :) should be in the dell storage facility between october 26th and october 30th. and with me 2-3 days later.

Can confirm the component issue. Just got off the phone with support and was told SSD shortages were the cause of my computer's delay (and yours, it sounds like). Mine (i5/8/128 FHD) was supposed to ship on Monday, but that's looking increasingly unlikely.

I ordered mine (8 gigs/256 pcie, non-touch) on the 8th... so 14 days in production at this point. My delivery date of Oct 28th hasn't changed that entire time, but I am not particularly confident that the laptop will arrive at my office in 6 days.

Update from Dell: "The change in estimated delivery date is unfortunate; however, the change was necessitated due to circumstances beyond our controls. The delay experienced is due to industry-wide constraints and extended delivery times on some components."

On french websites it's really that auto-birghtness 'dynamic contrast' that angered customers, fan noise not really, we may have different noise tolerance regarding laptops ^^.

I'll keep on eye on that, but the most important thing for me is that auto-brightness crap ! It must be erased from the screen Firmware ffs !

The Microsoft Signature Edition is a clean install free of bloatware. So, performance is the same as if you do a clean install yourself... provided you do it properly.

I've been using the same Asus laptop for the past 6 years. Never loved it like I did my Thinkpad before it. So the past couple years I've been waiting for the perfect Thinkpad for ME to become available. Touchscreen, backlit beyboard, 12" screen. Nothing from Lenovo has grabbed me, but the XPS 13 with it's 13 inch infinity screen in a 11" body has been calling my name the past year. I was never thrilled about Windows 8.1 or Broadwell so I decided to wait for Windows 10 and Skylake. It's finally here!

On Oct. 8, I ordered the XPS 13 Touchscreen, Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB. As of today the Microsoft Store still says I'll get it on Oct 26th. I can't wait!

I keep looking for hands on reviews. I can't find anything that specifically addresses the prior issues (touchpad, auto-brightness, poor wifi signal strength)

How frustrating, I ordered on the 12th but is still in Pre-Production and now estimated delivery date has been pushed back from 29 October to 4 November without notice.

Quite how a company the size of Dell could have launched this new product without first securing its supply chain, I don't know.

    Ok here in France,

just got an SMS : order delayed to November 4th, part shortage. just like the guy who posted above me ^^.

ordered half an hour after the laptop was on the website

I asked it's a last minute problem related to SSD PCIE shortage, but I can easily wait :), I just hope it doesn't have that auto-brightness issue !

I pre-ordered the cheapest 'Microsoft Signature Edition' XPS 13 up here in Canada....
Microsoft is spec'ing this XPS13(6thgen) as QHD+, non-touch, 8G, 128G SSD...which got my attention. Can anyone confirm that this is the correct configuration? I like the higher res screen and am ok without touch...
also, from what I understand the SSD is a SATA3 M.2 card.
would I be able to replace it myself with a 256G card, preferably PCIe?

Both are the same regarding design, the only way to choose is to focus on your budget and what you need : a small capable 13.3" laptop or an expensive powerhouse (with nvidia gpu) ?

If you don't have a powerful laptop, then maybe having the XPS 15+nvidia GPU could be great (gaming, photoshop etc.), if you want something next to a powerful laptop/desktop pc then maybe pick the 13".
    If you already have an alienware/clevo/asus/msi i believe it's a nobrainer => xps 13.

the new XPS have PCIE SSD only at least on dell website, QHD+/non-touch ? might be a mistake too. Please check with microsoft store :).

Yep me too finally ! Vive la France ^^
