If so that's exactly what I want.

I was going to buy the HP dv6t because its matte but apparently from reading this forum the XPS 17 1080P upgrade is matte.

But on dell.com it says nothing about being antiglare or matte....

so is it or is it not?

By the way one more question - 2520m vs 2630qm - is it really worth the upgrade? I'd much rather have a nicer looking and less awkward 6 cell battery...

Yup the non-3D version or Optimus version has the Anti-glare screen which you can see pics of in one of these threads- I am one of those who loves the screen but you will find others who hate it. Everywhere I go I see nothing but glossy, glarey shiney screens- so its pretty awesome to have an Anti-glare screen to show off. :D

As far as the battery, I think you are required to get it with the 555 GPU but you can buy it if you think you need more battery time.
Personally, I dont like the bulkiness when it comes to taking the laptop in and out of the bag, but when it sets down on the table, it angles it just right for typing and provides more air gap for ventilation fan.
I havent used the laptop on battery yet because it is always plugged in at work or at home so I cant comment on the performance.

I just chatted with dell tech support and she claimed that it was glossy.

    What gives?

You are required the 9 cell only with the 2630qm, I have a 555m and it did not require me to get the 9 cell.

I don't trust Dell Tech Support as far as I can throw them.

    Hi otacon,
I wish to order the L702X but i'm in trouble in LCD choice:
do you use it in photo/video editing? Is the full hd good for this purposes?
Normally I like the glossy screens, but i think also that the HD+ resolution is not enough for a 17"LCD (and the 3D FHD is too expansive).
    Tnx

What about the Dell XPS 15 and/or 15z? Is the 1080p upgrade w/ RGB backlight antiglare as well?

I preferred 15", mainly for the configuration options in Dell.it site.

Dell people on the phone ALWAYS seem to say it is glossy, but it isn't. They lie about a lot of things...like RAM slot counts (you only get 2 slots unless you have the 555m 3D SCREEN system despite what they might tell you). The Dell site says AG in the description for me, which means anti-glare (matte).

    Hi madmattd,

how do you feel about your 1080p AG?
    The matte is so visible?

Is good to view films or presentation too?

    Thank you

Like most people I am fine with the screen. You get used to the texture fast, this was my first matte screen so that's probably why I noticed it at first. I hardly see it now as I type this. I game/do CAD work on mine, it works great for it. Maybe not the best screen for photo work if you need exacting color replication, but for watching films I should think it would be great. The most I've done in that way is YouTube videos, so I can't be of much further help there. I used it for a PowerPoint presentation that was outside under a tent on a sunny day and the AG coating definitely helped visibility.
