    Looking for some comments on the Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n Half Mini-Card (wireless card). Could someone tell me it's effectiveness? As a college freshman I'd like a decent card but the XPS 13 is only offering that one.

    It's not as good as the Intel 5100 and 5300, but those aren't compatible with the Studio XPS 13's nVidia chipset. So, it's basically the best wireless card you're going to get in that machine.

    Does it have a strong distance or....?

    I'm not that great understanding wireless cards, just wondering if a card at this magnitude would have access to the internet on an average college campus. Thanks!

    Also, thank you for your comparison.

    It's definitely good enough for college wireless systems. In fact, if your college broadcasts 802.11g, not n (and most colleges still do), then the school's broadcast range is going to be more limiting than your wireless card's range.

    [ :D] I MADE A GREAT DISCOVERY IF ANYONE IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THERE 1510 WIRELESS CARD I FOUND THE SOLUTION. THE DRIVERS FOR THIS LAPTOP THE M1340 ON THIS CARD ARE BAD. IT LOOSES CONNECTION AND THE SPEED FLUCATES. THE CARD IS A BROADCOM CARD WITH THE 4322 CHIPSET IT'S NO WHERE TO BE FOUND ON THE WEB EXECPT FOR HP AND IT'S THE SAME DRIVER. HOWEVER I FOUND A SECRETE DELL HAS A DESKTOP WITH NVIDIA CHIPSET AND USES THE SAME CARD WITH THE SAME CHIPSET (4322) IT'S FOR THE STUDIO 1909 DESKTOP THE DRIVER VERSON IS 5.10 79.7 9 A24-1 i've been holding steady at 130 mbps which is N draft (the 1515 I think can do 300) (that card you get with the best buy laptop which was my first) BUT i CAN HONESTLY SAY I AM FUCTIONAL NOW.

    ^ Or you could just use the latest drivers from Broadcom for the 4322 (5.10.105.0)

    @DemonicHawk:

    I'll try the base broadcom driver once my system arrives. The default driver posted for the M17x is the 5.10.79.7.

    hi,

    My studio xps 13 came with a 1515. I didnt select it because I got the laptop secondhand. its weird that it came with that card, the 1515 isnt an option on the dell AU website. I can tell you that the 1515 is an atheros chip and connects to my dir635 at 300mbps. It did drop out a lot when I first got it but bios version A07 fixed that. hope you find that interesting

    Yes the 1515 is the ahteros chip. Infact that chip was on my first laptop that I got from Best buy. After I replaced it with the one from the Dell Factory I got the 1510. From what I remember the 1515 had bad drivers on the web. I couldn't connect 2 feet away and I was freaking out. I had to go to the manufactures site or a site that was in the dell Fourm (I'll try to look for them) here they are http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15297

    and they were referenced from this dell fourm site http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/19260956/19438857.aspx

    Remember for the 1510 get the driver for the studio 1909 which is the updated 4322 driver which will work in the studio xps once again here is the link
