I was wondering if the battery on the laptop is covered by warranty, i had my computer for about 9 months and i just ran a program to see my laptop battery life and it rated it at a 45% wear level

The laptop battery is 57720mWh stock and mines at 31402mWh now

I used to be able to run through 2- 1 hour classes on power saver with full brightness

now i cant even run past 50 mins on power saver

So my question is if Dell covers my battery with this bad of a wear from only moderate use.

I want to know before i call in so i can say that my battery doesn't work at all (if they don't cover wear down of a battery)

And i already tried cycling my battery a few times, didn''t make a difference.

Some manufacturers give a one year warranty, some give six months. You should call Dell and find out.

Dell has a 1 year warranty for the battery.. A wear level of more than 10% in the first year certainly qualifies you for a replacement...

Cool thanks, gonna call them up today.

45% wear level is ridiculous for less than a year XD.

and to Fluffboy i used Everest Ultimate edition, tells you everything about your computer down to the manufacture - model of you battery along with the battery life left and what not, all your CD keys for programs and games and a lot more.

Mine is Designed capacity 57720 mWh; Fully charged capacity 48252. That's pretty bad for less than a year old isn't it?

ya.. tell dell before your 1 yr period is up... they should exchange the battery

you should keep your battery prime: it is affected by the number of charge cycles and discharge rates....

eg: how many charges do you think u accumulated so far? once a day?

dont plug in the AC adapter every time you go back when the battery level's still good(>80%)... run it down to like 50% then charge

then do a full charge/discharge cycle every month...

I called up dell and they refused to do anything about it. They said first of all they won't consider this diagnostic at all since they didn't make it. They ran one test that said "The battery is running normally" and that is it.

I charge my laptop less than once a day. I only use it when I come home from work. I really don't think I abuse it. For a 10 month old computer I think they're being really unfair.

I appreciate the advice paper wastage.

Their the battery pressing thing suggests that the battery is fine. I wonder if this is the same thing as the quickset saying that it's fine. I hope dell doesn't consider this "normal wear." If so this battery is aweful.
