    Hello,

I made disc copies of my Dell Vista Home Reinstallation DVD. I found out the copies won't boot when I tried a Vista repair. I was using Nero 7 to make the copies. I was hoping to have a copy of the DVD in my bag for emergencies.

I have also tried to "Create A Recovery Disc" but the option is not available in the MAINTENANCE menu.

    What gives?

Bad disc? Did you change the boot sequence so that it boots from the optical drive first?

Yes, I hit F12 on bootup. I made a couple of copies using Sony and TDK brand DVD-Rs. Never had a problem with either. Thought Vista DVD might have copy protection.

Don't think so, but I can't say for sure. Try copying at the slowest possible speed. I've had similar problems burning TechNet disk images, and burning at 2X usually solves the problem.

They might have that protection. If you want to try something else, use vlite and make a custom reinstall disc.

Try imgburn to make an image and then burn the image. Should be more reliable than Nero
