Ok, this is happening for the 3rd time now in a year or so, so maybe there's something really wrong.

In the past days I discovered once again small dust particles inside my LCD screen. I tried to clean them but it's definitely not on the surface of the screen. Also they're not bad pixels, both because their shape is irregular, and the spots move slightly as I change my point of view.

I changed my screen three times now because of this, but now I'm sick and tired to change it when the issue will come back in a few months, even if the whole procedure is free (I have accidental damage assurance and next-day on-site support).

Did anyone experience the same thing on their XPS Studio 1645? If so, did someone call Dell to ask for a new model or a refund (even partial)? I might upgrade to a Studio XPS 17 with that.

    Thanks.

    Hi Lorthirk

I'm on my second screen although the first was replaced due to another fault. Like you, i'm not impressed with dust getting into the screen.

I've asked Dell to look at replacing it and although I have both warranty and accidental damage, they won't replace it as it is caused by "environmental issues", even though it's used in a home environment. The tech support people were basically suggesting that they would replace the screen if it wasn't displaying the right colours etc - telling me what I should say without spelling it out.

Did you come up with a solution to fix it in the end? The only thing I can think of is to rub petroleum jelly into the joints of the display..

    Cheers

Hi Andrew. I had no problems with any of the 3 LCD replacements, and I as you have both the on site service and accidental damage assurance. It seems that the last screen is still dust-free, but I'm using my laptop a lot less now I have an Android tablet. However, again: Dell changed my LCD three times without any problem, and IT SEEMS that this one is still dust free.
