This question isn't in regards to a laptop but about dell itself and its return/replacement policy. I always feel like this forum is the best, regardless of product, when I have questions about Dell. So hopefully this is ok.

Anyway, I've owned this product for 2 1/2 year and it still under warranty. Its not a computer. I got it replaced the other day because something went wrong with it. The replacement is great and in the box they've included the a return shipping label for me to return the defective part in. Now here's the question and please don't judge.

What can Dell actually do if don't return the defective part? I bought it over 2 1/2 years ago, I didn't use a Dell Perfered Account..And I even went as far as to call and ask what happens. The lady said after 10-14 days they will email me to inquire about it and or bill me. How will they bill me? I asked if they would charge my credit card and she said no they don't have the ability to do this..

So I'm wondering does anyone have any experience with this? If I decide to never return the defective part, whats the worse that can happen? Collection agency?

Why don't you just return the defective parts?

What can Dell actually do if I don't return the first part? I bought it over 2 1/2 years ago, I didn't use a Dell Preferred Account..And I even went as far as to call and ask what happens. The lady said after 10-14 days they will email me to inquire about it and or bill me. How will they bill me? And the reason I ask because the defective part is no longer defective..After a few days the issue went away and I kinda want to keep both..The return process was super easy..I got it the next day at my doorstep. The person on the phone didnt seem to care what the reason was when asking for a replacement....so Im wondering if this stuff ever happens and it slips through?

    this is down right theft.

and you're asking people for advice/help and be your accomplice to rip off Dell when Dell went out of their way to make you happy.

I havent done anything yet. Im simply asking if anyone knew what Dell does in the case of unreturned products. I got the product this morning and have 10 days to return it.

Im not asking anyone be my accomplice in anything. Im asking for information as I know someone out there has had this happen to them. There are numerous return and replacement issues and threads on this forum everyday and IM sure there has been case where someone forgot to return something or dell forgot to ask. Just seeing what happened.

In light of all the info leaking out about Dell's corp. culture and them knowingly selling defective products how can you sit there and defend dell in anything? They been ripping people off for years.

You'll be sent to a collections agency after a period of time and your credit will be ruined. Ask yourself if it is worth it.

I can give you a for instance.

If you have a Dell Laptop, and it was replaced with a new one because it had some issues (GPU/Throtting/etc). And, you had 10 days to return the "defective unit" and you didn't, per your agreement with Dell....

Dell's 3rd party Contractor "OnProcess" will make several attempts to contact you to return that unit which is rightfully Dell's. They will e-mail, call, etc.

If you do not return it, and you have any type of warranty on your replacement that was transferred over from your old one....

They will suspend all warranties, including your Accidental Coverage, until that defective unit is returned to Dell.

    Cin...

Yep. And on that note, thread closed because discussion of fraud is against the forum rules.

Bring it up again and you will be banned.
