My apologies if this has been beaten to death, but here recently, I have come across a problem installing the Dell Quickset driver from Dell's website. I have used it for over a year since upgrading to Windows 7 and never had a problem, but all of a sudden after reinstalling my system (other unrelated issues), I would run the installer for Quicket and I get the message 'this is not a supported system'. I tried about three different versions of the driver and I get the same message. I have run a compatibility utility on it through Windows and I still get the same result. This is more frustrating than anything, but I did also call Dell support and the guy got on my laptop remotely and saw that there was nothing wrong and that he suggested I reinstall Windows again which I did...a clean install, and this time reinstalled ALL of my drivers except for the Quickset (saved it for last), but sadly, it still won't allow me to install the drivers.

If anyone else out there has the same issue with Windows 7 on a Studio XPS 1640, I am very open to any solutions.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the links but both places were ones that I had investigated already after the ones I downloaded from Dell gave me trouble. I DID find one place where someone had decompiled the msi file for Quickset64 and it does work, it's just that the on screen display is different. I guess my frustration and due dilligence is getting the best of me and am very curious as to how the drivers would work all the way up until now and then they won't install. I downloaded a program yesterday called Orca which allowed me to open the msi file that came from the drivers from Dell and I was able to find the entries that dealt with the error message...only problem was that i got another error while installing that it couldn't find the Data1.cab file. At this point I may go back to the modified one I found and leave it be unless of course, someone out there knows of why the correct drivers won't install on my system.
