Hello all. I have an XPS laptop I purchased new about a year and a half ago. I never used Dell Media Direct and every time it came on it made me crazy. I am not a fan of these automatic things that try to help me.

Out of frustration, yesterday I removed Media Direct. Now, when I use Windows Media Player, I get no sound. CDs play fine in WMP, internet sounds come through and when I play a DVD using Nero, I get sound just fine.

So, the question is, how can I restore sound to Windows Media Player for DVD playback?

Thanks to you all in advance for any light you can shed on this topic.

    Cheers,

    Wordman

Try doing a system restore to yesterday and then uninstalling media direct again?
