    Hi Everyone,

I’m in the process of rebuilding my Dell M1210. I’ve wiped the HD, and installed the XP Media Center Edition.

Just how to I install the drivers? There has to be a simple way, but I just don’t know how.

I inserted the Resource CD, and it installed its program. Then I re-inserting the CD, but it goes to an hourglass or a second, and then disappears. The Start menu entry also fails.

I went into the device manager, and pointed the devices to the CD, but they never find what they want.

    Thanks for your help.

Just download the drivers from the Dell site, that way you get the latest versions.

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply; and it is a good one.

However, I really want to be able to use the CD. It should work,..... without problems. This is suppose to take the place of the hidden partition.

I always gave up on the CD, it always detected my hardware wrong and it drove me nuts updating everything later. Just my 2 cents though. And, did your M1210 not come with a restore partition as well as the discs? Mine did, but it didn't even last 12 hours :D

You can use a program like "Driver Detective' - it costs $29 but CNET rated them 9/10 . Btw, did you remember to COPY the Media Direct DVD before OS as instructed? I didn't but no big loss...I swapped out HDs and used Vista + Driver CDs with No issues thankfully. Yeah, CD should have worked...

    Hi,
No, there was no restore partition on it.

    Also, I subscribe to DriverAgent.com.

However, with out basic drivers there is no internet for them to scan my box. Also, the USB is not working.

I guess I'll download from the Dell site, burn to CD, and hope that works.
