    Dell L702x fan keeps surging on and off

    L702x, the fan keeps turning on and off rather loudly, I checked the temp and it seems to be surging as well from time time and while basically doing nothing.

    Any idea, should I replace the fan or clean it?

    Clean it is the obvious 1st attempt.
    Repaste the CPU while you are in there as the paste may have gone off adding to the issue.
