Hi, everyone. After hearing positive customer feedback on the Alienware assistance thread and listening to everyone’s suggestions about our sales efforts here on NBR, we have decided to start a thread for sales assistance with products beyond Alienware. I am happy to introduce my counter parts that will be assisting with Canada XPS sales. They are Chagi, Tarik and Amith. This will be the thread they use to accept quote requests from customers in need of sales order help. They may go out onto other threads and join the conversation, just like Rev and I do from time to time, but they will not be reaching out and pitching you on other threads.

Chagi, Tarik and Amith are senior sales representatives with a long experience in XPS Systems sales. They go by the screen names Chagi@Xps, Tarik@Xps and Amith@Xps. They will be handling requests for customers in Canada.

Here is how the process will work :

If you are looking for help with a new purchase quote, or any general sales issues, please send a PM to either Chagi, Tarik or Amith. In your PM, please include your first and last name, customer number if you have one, shipping address, email address and daytime contact number if this is for a system quote. Also post some sort of “sent you a PM” comment on this thread. If you need any other kind of assistance related to sales or order process, please PM one of them, and explain your situation. They may not be able to solve all customer care and tech support issues, but they will refer you to the appropriate team to help when they can.

Please feel free to post any other questions or concerns you may have. I will do my best to keep up. Thanks.

Will definitely come back in a month (or sooner), when I'll be ready to buy my next laptop! (Currently looking at the L521X)

P.S. Any of you should we contact more specifically for Quebec? As in "do any of you speak French?" kind of question :D

    Thanks guys!

Hey team, thanks for starting this thread. It is critical for me that Dell offers an SSD only option as a config option along with the Dell XPS L521x, similar to the previous gen model. Some countries offer this and we don't for some reason. Bear in mind that people would be more than willing to pay it. I know it becomes a bump up in price, but that's a choice that the consumer would like to have as a viable option. Is this going to be a reality soon? If so, please discuss ETA. Thanks in advance.

Can (or does) this configuration ($1,999.99):

have Windows 7 installed on the 128GB mSATA SSD (that is, the mSATA SSD is used as boot/OS/programs drive, and not as Intel-managed file cache)?

Would there be any specific indication on the order?

    Hello,

I have been looking at the New XPS 15 ($2000 configuration) with the 1TB 5400 RPM drive and 128 GB mSATA. Although the configuration is pretty good, I would prefer that it has the 750 GB 7200 RPM drive. Is there any way I can get the system configured with that drive instead? I saw that it is possible to just get a full SSD setup, what is the cost for that?

I am wondering if this laptop has UEFI support as well?

Also, I previously had a 15% corporate discount with anything I bought from Dell. Recently I was told that this is now 5%. Can Dell honour my previous discount? I am not very happy with this change out of no where...

    Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. It seems I am not able to PM right now, possibly that feature is not activated until I make a certain number of posts. I will PM you when I have it available.

This is the configuration I am interested in, but the 1TB 5400 RPM drive replaced with a 750 GB 7200 RPM drive. Also, if there are any other configuration options available, please let me know. Thanks for your help!

    Hello,

I am in the market for a new laptop, and I am definately leaning towards the new XPS 15. However it might take me a little while longer to purchase.

I am wondering what the anticipated roll out for Win 8 will be (other than October). To be honest, I am skeptical of Win 8, so I would much rather have a new laptop with Win 7.

    Thanks

Is Win 8 the only concern for the delay for a new laptop

    Thanks

Well I have heard on the other fora that there were some upcoming BIOS changes in the XPS 15 due to throttling/fan speed, so I was hoping to purchase sometime between the new BIOS and Win 8. I was just wondering what the timing was.

In the past, I have heard of vouchers for new OS's in the immediate window before a release. I wasn't sure if the roll out this time would be similar.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Well, depending on what you wanna do... There is currently a $15 offer for Win 8 upgrade if you were to buy now... So if I were you, buying before this deal (I don't know when) ends would be the best option, since you'd get both OS for only $15 more if you ever change your mind about Win 8. At least, that's what I would do if I didn't get free oses from my university! I'd love a "no-os" version to save a few bucks!

However, I'm pretty sure Dell will offer for some time after Win 8 realease a choice for the OS... They've done this in the past! However, it's only a guess, since they could very well change their policy, like they've done with hardware configuration . So don't take it for granted, unless specified otherwise

The BIOS could be updated yourself after purchase. No reason to wait if't it's your only reason... The download link will be accessible through Dell's website, and easy to install!

Plus, I guess it'll take some time before they start shipping with the already updated bios... you may still endup with the old one!

So there is a SSD option for XPS 15 Canadian orders?

I too am potentially interested in the 750 GB 7200 RPM drive wih the 128 GB mSATA (as opposed to the 1 TB 5400 RPM version).

Amith told me it was $300 to upgrade to the 128GB mSATA.... but the 1TB 5400rpm "upgrade" comes with it.

    Do not want

An extra 250 GB of slower storage does not = upgrade. I don't get the reasoning behind this offering.

Just let us pick and choose what WE want. I know, I know, I think I may be asking too much...maybe more options will be offered as more potential customers request various set-ups.
