Sorry for opening a new thread for this.. But i wanted more responses over one issue.

I prefer the higher resolution display WSXGA+ (1680 x 1080) over the WXGA+ (1440 x 900) as it means more screen real estate.. which is important for the work i do

But unfortunately.. I have been quoted the following..

    M809C - WXGA+ (1440x900).. Which is the LG display..

    or

XR860 - UltraSharp WSXGA+ (1680x1050) Which is probably the Samsung with very bad reviews all over NBR..

Should i take a risk with Samsung? Could they have rectified the issues with the display by now?

    Please help decide :) Thanks

Same here. I have the Samsung as well. And the same part number... XR860.
Trust me... it's amazing. No grains or haziness whatsoever. Superb brightness and awesome clarity.
    Go with it.

I saw some pics here.. Samsung compared to LG.. and the LG looked much brighter and viewing angles were great.. Samsung was grainy and dull..

So if possible, I would love to see 3 pics.. one screen at full brightness.. two, a close shot of the screen and third pic with side on view would be great.. to check the viewing angle.

    Thanks again :)

Thanks a real LOT mate.. Really appreciate it..

Screen looks great.. Bright and clear.. From the side view does it look slightly grainy? Or is it just my eyes? What do the experts say on this?

One more thing.. How does the crimson red look in real? How would you compare it to Black and Midnight blue?

That is a very nice screen. Would you mind going to device manager and getting the hardware ID for the monitor? My M1530 shows the RW985 Samsung panel yet it actually has a LG panel in it... :)

Toocool... not at all. It's not the graininess.. just the camera trying to compensate for not using flash. If you look closely, the grains you're talking bout is present all over the pic and not just the screen. I for one, am a sucker for non grainy screens. And trust me, had there been any grain... it would have made it's way beck to Dell a long time back :)

Rhodan... will just upload the hardware id screenshot. But it most definitely says SEC3350. So that's Samsung. Do I have an LG in disguise ??

Nope, you definitively have a Samsung. Glad to see some good 1650x1050 Samsung which is the best resolution on a 15.4 IMHO... :)

Yep.. even I believe the WSXGA+ resolution to be the best for 15.4" . It's strikes an absolutely perfect balance between screen space, usability and looks.

Samsung has been producing some pretty bad screens lately especially their LED ones. They just can't seem to reproduce whites without a tint of blue.

Well... wouldn't know anything bout the LED ones. But the one I have, is magnificent. No problems whatsoever.

Whether it's up close, far away or at any viewing angle.... it's stunning. Maybe pure luck... or Samsung have upped their ante :)
