HEy, i recently found a used XPS for sale for $700 and was wondering if it would be worth the investment?

    Here Are the specs:

    - Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache)
    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic
    - 250 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
    - 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM 677MHz (2 DIMMs)
    - 8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
    - 512mb NVIDIA 8700 GTS (256x2SLI)
    - 320gb hdd @ 7200 rpm

Im looking to play the recent games and record music using this machine. Any Advice would be awsome.

$700 is quite a lot for a used laptop...I would take a look at the Dell Outlet and see if there are any current models that you are interested in.

The M1730, which is one hell of a beast, is a nice SLi system. However, the 8700m GT SLi cards just aren't ideally up to the mark with a food few new games at the laptop's native resolution. If I had to get an M1730, then I'd certainly favour getting it with the 256-bit 8800m GTX, 9800m GT, or the 9800m GTX setup. Secondly, the general thermal issues with the design of this laptop aren't well suited to most of the GPUs. I too would advise going for something a bit newer from the outlet.

    No. I wouldn't go for 8700's.
