Hi! I just want to ask if my DELL XPS M1530, BIOS is A12 already.......can be upgraded to newly released 1tb Harddrives with 9mm drive height?

will my system support it? will there be any lags from processing such a large harddrive?

Right now, Im using 500GB Seagate Momentus XT. If i upgrade to samsung, hitachi, etc 1TB today, will it be faster than my current HD? i like the feature of the Momentus which is a hybrid that can really make my access times faster. I hope with the larger capacity nowadays, i hope it could equal or surpass the current performance of momentus XT.

In another thread today, someone said he "upgraded" to a 1TB drive but it was only 5400 RPM, because according to him there are no 1TB drives in the 9mm height. That is slower than the 750GB 7200 RPM drive that comes with the XPS15.

Yes but the only 1 TB drives out in 9.5mm are all 5400 rpm which maybe a downgrade from a 750 or 500 GB 7200 rpm.

Those are definitely a downgrade from 7200RPM drives when using as system disk. 5400RPM drives are good to use for external storage or when used as secondary hard drive .....

WD10 TPVT is the 12.5mm version which will not fit in 95% of laptops

WD10 JPVT is the 9.5mm version which will fit in most laptops (minus the rare ones that use 1.8" and 7mm 2.5" drives).
