I am new to this forum and I need help.
Recently I got this XPS STUDIO 1647 as a present, but my particular model came with Intel I3 installed and with 2Gb of Ram only. I would like to get an advice which route should I take? Upgrade it to i5 or to i7?
I have already read about CPU compatibility issues and I understand that this model supports only Dual Core CPU. Please tell me what is the exact model should I buy from ebay?
    Thank you!

I would up it to at least 4 GB, 8 GB is pretty cheap these days (~60-70 USD).

CPU I would just recommend a fast i5, like the 540M. The dual core i7s only offer slightly faster speeds out of the box, have a higher turbo speed and have slightly more cache, it's not going to make a difference in normal usage, only benchmarks/compiling/rendering.

    Thank you!!!
I am planning to use this laptop for photography editing like processing camera RAW files (Adobe Light Room) or editing video clips with Sony Vegas.
So you think I5 will be the best choice to meet my needs?
Is this is the one we are talking about:
    Intel 2.53 GHz i5- 540M processor | eBay

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Core-i7-6...CPU-/250659321292?pt=CPUs&hash=item3a5c75b5cc

    ???
The price difference between I7 620 and I5 540M is around 100$ So the question is about performance will I7 give me any noticeable performance boost or not?
Please advice what RAM should i get?
    Thank you!
