    Hello.
MY GF has a dell xps M1330. I reformatted the HD and now can not install Vista to work properly on it. When I tried installing XP, it wont recognize the drive.

When I formatted the HD , i also deleted the recovery partition. She has misplaced the disc that came with the laptop. I can not DL the disk from dell or other places.

Is there an owner of an xps 1330 owner who is willing to upload a copy of his or her recovery disc?

For your trouble, I'd be happy to buy you lunch (sent in the form of a paypal donation ) :)

    Thanks.

    laptop info: bought 2/2/08
    (red) version xps m1330
    Vista Ultimate installed originally

sounds like all you need to do is slipstream the SATA driver into the install disc.

I thought you had to burn a disc off of the recovery partition.

Nope, while that was true around the 2004/2005 time frame, Dell has since returned to giving you a Windows DVD and a Driver's disk. All additional software included with a system is on separate CD's.

That's what it was. I slipstreamed the sata drivers into an XP sp3 install disc and it worked fine. I guess it's just a matter of upgrading to Vista and making sure I have the sata driver dl from Dell.

    Thanks.
