Hi all, just wondering how is your performance with Crysis and COD with your XPS1530.

I am able to get satisfactory performance with the following

    1. Crysis - 1024 x 768. Anti aliaising turned off. Running at approx 20 FPS
    2. COD4 - 1024 x 768. No shadow, Running at approx 20+ FPS.

GPU temperature hovers at around 70+, then the arm rest gets really warm and the fan comes on. I am on A09 bios.

I have owned it for a little more than 2 months now. How do your machine perform? Is anyone able to run COD4 at a higher setting than mine? Does this mean that my GPU is bad?

I'm able to play COD4 at 1280x800, AA 2x, no shadows, and everything on low. Plays smoothly, but my temps go to high 80s after 30mins of playing. I might have to go to lower settings so the temps can remain playable.

With my specs, I am able to play CoD4 at 1440x900 with everything turned on and maxed out perfectly with fast framerates, no lag. So 1280x800 is an even easier piece of cake than what is already a piece of cake. Same can't be said for Crysis. Has to be medium settings on 1440x900, though I don't know about the 1280x800 resolution.

I thought you would be able to play higher. I can play COD4 online with like 40 people on 1064 x XXX I forget but the widescreen one. With no AA and all low but still look great and get like 40fps average.

Funny I don't get this kind of performance on my machine. I am running the same config as most other XPS 1530 users.

I can play COD4 at 1440x900 with about 40 FPS with shadows. My other settings are default I believe. Not bad but it still lags a bit sometimes :(.

Im using v175.31 driver using OCed clock speeds: 655/890 and can play both games pretty decently.

COD4: 1280x800 High Details, Textures/model: max, shadows low, no AA, no AS. Multiplayer fps>30

Crysis: DX9, 1280x800 High Shader, Low shadow, all else medium, no AA/AS fps>20

I think you sould definately be able to run COD4 @ med-high settings using 1280x800 with 30+ fps
    whats your driver version?

Personally I dont think 30fps is fast enough for a game at all. Its barely playable since everything is so slow. Since when did 30fps become the minimum? XD

I got the 1440x900 with LED, so thats the max resolution I can use. I don't know about performance on higher resolution, but lower ones for sure will not have any problems maxing it out either.

I thought 30fps was bad too but it is actually pretty acceptable even with a first person shooter like COD4 online. It is really fun anyways and don't notice the frames rates much.

When I play COD4 at 1400x900 on my m1530 it stutters. I get about 30 fps. I have everything turned off or on low except for character detail, bullet impact, and rag doll. I am using Vista x64 with 177.92 drivers. I also tried 177.98 drivers (I couldn't tell the difference between the two). Anything else I should try? Driver suggestions? On some missions I will get higher fps (40-55), but it still seems to be jerky. It seems to be jerky on any resolution except 800x600 with medium settings.

Seems like 8400M GS performance. Either that, or bad drivers.
