The new XPS 15 in the top configuration ( XPS 15 Touch Screen Laptop Details | Dell) looks like the top machine in the ~$2000 range in terms of portability, internals, and build quality. Before I pull the trigger, though, I have a couple questions.

    1) My personal main concern with the laptop is the screen. I hear the QHD makes things really small and scaling often gives weird results. To remedy this, could i just change the resolution of the laptop to 1080p ? Is it alright to run the laptop in a non-native resolution?
    2) Are there any other notable problems with the laptop?
    3) Are there ways to fix any problems mentioned in question 2?

    Thanks in advance, guys!

1 - A lot of the Microsoft applications are fine with scaling up on QHD, but in my experience there are a lot of issues with third party software. You can change it back down to 1080p, that's fine. You will get a message saying it's not the native resolution blah blah but you can disable that.

2 - Might want to have a scan through the owners thread... I don't really have any issues with mine other than they sent the wrong power supply (now fixed), and that the track pad is a bit iffy (hoping drivers will get better). Apparently others have mentioned a humming/buzzing noise from the monitor, and some have said there are Wifi issues. I've not suffered from either of those so can't speak to them.

    3 -...

As mentioned scaling works fine.. I use 163% because I am well me. I run native resolution despite tri-focals. 1080p looks weird on this screen. The scaling is just fine.
Problems... None to speak of. The screen colours are a little off I believe, but there is a file in the owners thread that ensures that it is spot on.
#3 I have a had a few people remark that they didn't know the MacBook was also made by Dell or that it came with a touch screen. Its been difficult to not burst out laughing..
    Am not a crApple fan.

You can call and get the 1080p screen if you're worried about scaling...

I assume there will be NO 17" version of this correct?
