How do you guys deal with the constant white residue left on the palm rest after using it? It's like a hard to get off white powder wherever your hand goes. How often do you guys get this off and how? It really ruins the look of the laptop for me...........

Although a bit immature, what you wrote sounds kind of funny???
On to the question: You can use a slightly damp cloth or paper towel.

What's funny about it? I'm concerned about how my notebook looks too. ;)

Bowlerguy... I haven't seen that yet? Maybe you have oily hands... some people do. Alcohol may take it off?

I'm going to try and get a picture. And yes, I know what Jamaicanyouth the pervert was laughing at. [IMG]
That's just a crappy picture from my cellphone camera but you can see the white areas, those are where the weird powdery white residue builds up on my palm rests.

Just use some alcohol to get it off. This is one thing that peeved me about my black Macbook, you could always see oily fingerprints no matter how clean you kept your hands.

White "powder"? I would recommend alcohol and microfiber cloth. Or just use the included cloth that came with the laptop. Afterwards you can maybe place a clear plastic cover like the ones that protects pda screens.

I get it too. Like every 3 days I'll look down and its just filthy. I usually scratch it off with my fingernails or rub it out. Then like once a week I turn my pc off and spray it with pledge multisurface once and rub it down with a sponge. of course, be careful where you spray it.

Or you could just dampen the sponge first to be even more safe.....

I also wipe my lid too. It gets fingerprints form me carrying it around. I spray it with water and wipe it down, it makes a cool little pattern on it too

I have to admit, to be so beautiful, this thing does require a lot of maintenance.

I can't say I have to do any kind of regular maintenance like that on my m1330. It does get the occasional print on top and palm rest......but a quick wipe even with a shirt sleeve and it's gone.

Maybe I'm just lucky that I don't have an oily complexion, and I tend to keep my hands clean 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time, I'm not in contact with my laptop.

Have you tried washing your hands before you use your laptop to avoid the problem all together?
