The Dell US site is cheaper since Dell is a US company...

Looking at the configurator (wow, not a word?) on the European site, it doesn't look like they want to give you those specs for the price. I don't think the price is unreasonable, it's just that the options simply aren't available where you want 'em: no configurations offer the Penryns and only the most expensive base configuration offers the 1440 x 900 screen.

You'd probably be able to get the 1440 x 900 on a cheaper setup if you ordered by phone, but I don't think you'll be able to get the Penryn unless you buy it later. Never hurts to check, though.

You can get the 9300 over the phone. I queried it when I bought mine and they were happy to give me a quote. It's possible that they are waiting for the second shipment of Penryns to drop, and are holding of at the moment, but I reckon if you told a rep to call you when they come back in stock, you'd get first dibbs.

£900 should be just about doable over the phone, but you'll have to be able to negotiate very well. I got the same specs, but the 250G HD and 2G RAM for £912. If you get the 4G of RAM from Crucial and sell the bundled 2G on eBay, you should come in at £900, give or take. It all depends on how good you are at convincing the Dell people to drop their drawers for the sale.

    I got the T8300, 250GB HARD DRIVE, DVD/RW, 2GB RAM, 9CELL, BLUE, 8600GT GRAPHICS,

    £750.00

That was a week ago, or two.

so i think 900.00 is way way to much to pay.

    Hey based in wales.

Got the 1440 x 900 as did not want the trouble of the grainy screenM its is so awsome.

got the 2gb ram as I can get a set of corsair 4gb for about 45-50 quid. dell is a rip off, will sell the 2gb already in the machine for about 20.00 so really only paying 30 odd quid for 4gb ram.

Done it all by phone and let the lady phone me back three times before we agreed on this price.

I kept saying I still think it was too expensive and my mate got it 40.00 cheaper.

She finally got pissed of at the 750 mark and said no more discounts, then I said sold, gave my details there and then.
