OK I have read a few posts on here about framerate lag on XPS M1530s and I experianced this last night for the first time, I have only had the game a few weeks but it didn't happen until last night. (i know the game has been out a while)

First question is what is acceptable temps for the 8600M GT while under load playing games? I installed hwmonitor but don't know what is considered hot.

I am using LTV2Go's 179.14 driver, have you guys found a different one that works better with COD4? The newer 180.xx drivers was causing my comp to not come out of sleep so I went back a few versions.

Because it was working fine a day or two ago I think my problem lies with the A11 BIOS because I updated to that the day before yesterday, I may try reverting back to A09.

So my options are go back to A09, use a new driver, and check temps. Is there anything else I can do? I really think the BIOS is the issue but I was getting that A/C adapter error from time to time so I updated to A11

Edit: I have the T8300 processor and the lag happens when outside and there is a lot of action going on. I get about 91fps inside but when the lag comes it drops to 19-22

179.14 is the best performing driver on laptopvid2go....according to the benches there, give me some temps on your GPU and CPU and we can maybe see if your getting a downclocking issue, lets getrid of that possibility first.

thanks for the reply. I will try to get some temps tonight, I assume hwmonitor has a recording feature so i can record the temps as I play?

I read that the new A11 bios changes the behavoir of the fans so maybe it is a heat issue. Also my FIOS internet seemed a little "flaky" yesterday so maybe it was an internet connection issue but I did not get any connection interrupted messges.
