When I close the lid on my 1530, it goes to sleep. When I open the lid and attempt to load my browser, doesn't make any difference whether it is IE or Firefox, it won't connect, shows a time out screen. If i exit and launch again, it come right up. My wireless connection shows connected the second I enter my password. Have checked and my drivers are all up to date. Not sure what to do next. Any suggestions?

When your computer goes to sleep it will disconnect the wireless, so make sure the wireless re-connects successfully. Even if it displays that it's connected immediately after you open it up, wait a minute or so for it to re-associate itself. If it doesn't happen automatically, try to cycle the wireless connection.

    Are you running Vista/XP?

Have you tried waiting 5-10 seconds before opening your browser? See if giving it some time helps. The intel cards tend to take around 5-10 seconds to re-initialize after sleep (some up to 30)

i just spent three long days fighting the same problem youre facing. it said i was connected to my routers wireless connection but i couldnt connect to firefox or internet explorer. what i did was set up a broadband connection to go along with the wireless connection. what should happen is when you open up your browser a box will ask for a user name and password. you put those in and then you can log in. they should be the same ones you use to connect to the web on your desktop. but seriously...i know your pain...

Problem solved. Rather than using Dell's driver updates, I went to Intel and downloaded the driver that is dated in March of 08, and that solved my problem. Instant connect when resuming from sleep mode. Hope that helps.
