ok then guys, which one's have you tried / tested / like / dislike etc etc.

I am considering getting one for my machine, and whilst i obviously understand what i need is a tray load slimline, and not slot load! and SATA that's about all i know right now.

So do i need 12.5mm or does it need to be the slimmer 9.7mm size ?

Which make works best in the Dell units without producing any strange comflicts etc,. and which actually line up correctly for the led and eject button ?

As i see it there are only a couple of realistic options from LG, Panasonic and sony/optiarc

Well, Dell replaced my faulty Lite-ON BD-ROM with a Panasonic UJ240 'Blu-Ray Burner' and it's been working great, love it!
