I bought my Dell 1530 XPS last February. It has been working perfect and I have been fine with everything. However today while using it just typing a word document the screen flashed,

BLACK! WHITE! BLACK! WHITE! WHITE! and then BLACK again. This time it was black again for good. What happend? Can I fix this without having to ship it in or have someone come out to replace it?

I connected my computer to an external monitor and it worked perfectly. Meaning that it was the just the monitor that got messed up.

You guys, I really dont want someone to touch my Laptop and fix it. They will just be all rough with it without giving a care in the world. AHHH! Yet I have no idea how to replace the monitor myself. UGHH!

What happend? Whats the best way to go about getting this fixed?

Maybe the lcd cable shorted... But I don't think you can check without breaking the warranty....

turn on the laptop in a darkened room... look for a faint image. If you can see one, then it is the inverter - and it will need to be replaced by Dell (it is possible to do it yourself, if you are comfortable doing that kind of stuff).
