I feel Dell drivers for my nVidia sucks as my card is reaching 90 Celsius while playing nintendo 64!!

i know all the drivers are in laptop video 2 go but i would like to know which ones are the best for my nVidia (i would like the ones that make my chip run cooler)

    thanks!

tbh there's barely any difference between the drivers for temperatures... not enough the make the kind of difference you want.

The only thing that actually brings temps down a significant level is the copper mod. For me, games which used to run at 100C+ now run in the 70's.

I'd also advice you to do the copper mod, or the more time consuming option, undervolting.

    Or both.

I agree - I did both and my temperatures dropped from 104C to 72c! (That's under extreme load).

It's linked in the m1330 copper mod thread, anyway, here's the link:
    http://metaloffcuts.co.uk/

They have world wide shipping, my 14 x 14 x 1.5 sheet arrived today actually, still waiting for my m1330.

I'm a bit of a noob too, don't worry. If anyone on this forum mentions something, look in the upper right corner, there's a search box there, enter whatever you're wondering about into that box :).

    As for undervolting: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=235824

Try "copper mod" :). I didn't try either of them methods yet, since my m1330 didn't arrive, but I'm intending to do both of them once it gets here.

people i just did the copper mod to my compueter, the thing is...i dindt had the copper, so i just put plenty of arctic silver 5 to my cpu and gpu.
all i have to say is that im very pleased with the results! my fan now barely kicks in, cpu idle is 32 celcius and under normal load (music, web, IM) is now 38, its amazing! my cpu used to idle at 40 and under normal load reach the 45 C, the gpu was idling @ 75- 80 now it idles at 60 C

Too much thermal compound might make the cooling worse. The compound is only there in order to fit in the small spaces between the GPU and the piece of copper to make sure they're in perfect contact.

I don't know exactly what the effect of a lot of thermal compound is, someone else can probably tell you, I just know it's not good in the long run.

    Interesting!!

"Too much thermal compound might make the cooling worse" then the best copper mod but anything is better then the blue stuff we have now.

Did you remove blue stuff from gpu but leave it on for North bridge?(Middle chip)
Is heat pipe and top of the gpu close to parallel?

Just monitor the temperature. As long as lower then original temperature why not.

after leaving my laptop 8 hours on, temperatures are terrific! cpu 34 C, GPU 59 C, i left the blue stuff in both, the northbridge and the GPU, i just cleaned the cpu from all the old compound and replaced for the new one, i put a little compound in each side of the blue stuff in the gpu, the gpu is much more cooler, and yes, i will you all let you know how is my temp doing...

BTW, im not using "too much" compound, with plenty i meant enought, sorry about that...

I see, yeah, like was mentioned you did what you should have done :). Did you check if the temperatures are good during stress tests as well? Idle temperatures are usually pretty good no matter how long you leave the laptop on.
