I just installed Windows XP and I'm having trouble with my battery. I have no battery meter or anything in the system tray... how do I get one so I can control my battery settings etc.?

By default the icon only shows up when running on battery power, not while plugged in.
Go to start > control panel > power options

    Go to...

COntrol Panel > Power Options > Advanced Tab > Check box that says "Always show icon on taskbar".

EDIT: Aww, you beat me! :p

Thanks! Does XP not support options to throttle hardware like how in Vista there was Power saver, balanced, etc. that adjusted CPU speed and things? I don't see any of those options.

You can use RMClock to help with throttling and undervolting.
