My battery light is blinking orange then white. When I restart I'm told I need to buy a new battery. But my battery is perfectly fine and gives me 3-4 hours easy. This problem started after I hard shut down (by pressing and holding the power button) after a system crash ( think my graphics card is a bit faulty). Anyways, this really doesn't do anything other than be annoying and distracting. I've tried taking the battery out and stuff, but nothing seems to be working. Any advice?
Thanks,
Edit: it says my battery is in a "temporary failure state" No clue what that means...

Everything I found online for that error message states that you're going to need to contact Dell for a battery replacement.

Not necessarily. If the battery overheats (as happened to me using the laptop in the sun on a hot day--yeah, bad idea) or something it can temporarily get into a failure state. It eventually went away when I removed the battery and ran off AC power for a while.

I think theres something wrong with my graphics card too so I wouldn't mind making a warrenty call. Except the dell site is way too confusing. How exactly do I make a warrenty call?

Hey there, I've been getting the exact same problem with the battery light blinking. It's not happened much, but this past month it's happened quite frequently and my laptop just shuts off completely as if someone pulled the plug on a desktop when the battery is at 5% or lower.
The battery isn't even a year old, and I take care to disable charging when it is full. Is it normal for the battery to be like this or is there a fault with this?
Cheers.
