since i use my laptop the majority of the time at home, is it better for my battery if i take it tou and just leave the power cord plugged into the laptop?

I think it depends on the type of battery. Having used 6 different Dell laptops from Latitude to XPS, the only battery that died after a year was the M1210. All laptops were plugged in most of the time, and none failed except the M1210 9-cell extended battery. It now holds very little charge, and a replacement costs way more than I want to pay (with tax it's close to Cdn$200).

Now with the M1530 (which I'm waiting for a replacement due to deformed plastic), I'm kind of worried if it's using the same type of battery as the M1210. But taking the battery out while not on the move is kind of silly, so I'll probably leave it plugged in.

    Good luck,
    Dave

Hey..I have the 1530, the 9cell and 6cell..I use the 9cell primarily..and leave it plugged in all the time...and have had no problem's whatsover ;) :)

And, I would rather leave it attached to my notebook ~then do something that may cause me to have to purchase another one ;) :)

So, the choice is yours ;) :)

Hope that helps you, and good luck to you! ;) :)

    Cin ;) :)

My old laptop is plugged in almost all of the time with battery....after 1.5 years it holds very little charge (30minutes)....and after 3 years it holds no charge at all....like pulling the plug shuts down the laptop.
