    Hoping someone can help...

I bought a 512GB Crucial MX100 SSD, in order to replace the HDD in my partner's XPS1340. I removed the original HDD, attached both the HDD and the new SSD to my own laptop with USB enclosures, then cloned the complete HDD onto the SSD using Acronis True Image 2014 (the OEM version of the software that comes with the Crucial drive). The clone copies not only the main data partition, but also the OEM (tiny) and RECOVERY (handful of GB) onto the SSD.

All good so far, so replace the SSD into the XPS1340. BIOS detects the drive. Booting into Windows blue screens, then restarts and loads Windows fine. However, after about 1 minute within Windows, everything freezes. I can repeat this - first time I get BSOD flash, then reboot into Windows OK but freezes after a very short period. Safe mode does the same thing. SO I try the F8 and "Repair" on startup, this time BSOD but it stays. The problem seems to be something called NVSTOR64.SYS.

    This is Win7 SP1 btw.

    Any suggestions?

It's going to be compatibility with the storage controller. Maybe worth looking at a different ssd like the Intel ones. As they more compatible to the Intel based chipsets.

Hmm that's a possibility. I think its an nforce chipset but could be mistaken. Thanks.
