Is this for the 8800GTX or are there going to be new graphic cards available for the m1730?
I am about to buy this laptop and honestly don`t want to spend 400$ ont he 8800GTX if they are coming out with support for the newer cards wth?
If it is support for the 3870 i honestly don`t care since i prefer the 8800GTX , but what if it is for the 4870 or 9800 =/

They`ll probably add the 9800M GT, seing as they`re the same card as the 8800M GTX.

Don`t go ahead and speculate, the XPS1730 is nearing its end :)

Could it be a new 8800m GTX revision? I noticed Dell has a new part number for the 8800m GTX, P402H instead of the XM888.

eleron: how is that lappy running? :D

I think you pretty much got the point. The 8800M GTS/GTX and 9800M GT/GTX series are both based on the G92M GPU chip. There are only minor differences in the clocks and shaders:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_9#Technical_summary_2
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_8#Technical_summary_2
It would be more interesting if the Geforce 9800M series would have made the 65nm -> 55nm die shrink with power consumption savings, but it doesn't look it did.

It's no big surprise the benchmarks for those GPUs are on about the same level:
