Anyone know how to configure the audio jacks on the 1530?

    I found this thread

    showthread.php?t=270585
(it wont let me post the whole URL, cos i'm a new kid)

but it seems to be dealing with virtual DJ only

really what i would like to be able to do is have my music coming through my speakers, and everything else (skype etc) through my headphones

    thanks :D

    which audio pack?
    the sigmatel audio?

    this is good
but all i need to know is how to get certain programs to output to certain speakers only

eg Media Player to rear speakers, messenger to front speakers

I dont think its possible, i think you would need 2 sound cards.

that's what i would have thought too
but when i learnt about the whole 5.1 capabilities
i figured there must be some way to (in realtime) port 2 stereo audio tracks
into 4 of the speakers of a 5.1 set up

    but not possible?

Actually, I think I may have done exactly this on accident just a few days ago. I rolled back my audio drivers because the newest sigmatel release wasn't working. Then I went to the playback devices screen and low and behold, there were 2 "speakers/headphones" devices. After some testing, it turns out one of them was my front 2 speakers, one of them was my back 2. Not what I wanted, but it may be exactly what you need. Just plug in the inputs for your front and back speakers (green and black, respectively) to the left and center audio ports on your XPS, and roll back your drivers. It might just work for you.

    cool that has worked well

now all i need is some way to choose which programs get outputted with each 'device'
