Just going over the reviews and the specs. I believe I'm down to two choices, and it's making life difficult.

The Asus U6sg is a beautiful, 3.4 pound machine with poor battery life and a 9500M G dedicated card.

The weight and looks of this notebook are outstanding.

However, the attractiveness plus the much larger screen of the 1530 (including the higher-powered dedicated GPU) are also attractive. Outfitting both of these machines with a T9300 essentially makes the price (with warranties figured in) a wash.

Portability IS an issue. I've seen the review and specifications of the 1530 from six months ago or so, and it did not have an LED option. For those that own a 1530 with an LED screen: Is the weight closer to 5 pounds with the LED and six-cell battery?

Yes. I'm that nitpicky. Mostly I just want the truth, I'm not sure I could go wrong with either selection, but it's much easier to type on the 15.4" notebook than the 12" and I'm willing to sacrifice about a pound and a half (heavy traveling) for that difference.

[THEN I have to decide if the XP version on the Asus is worth it over the Vista options for Dell]

About 100 grams, or 3.5 ounces is the weight difference between the LED and the normal screen. The LED is the one which weighs less.

thanks for the replies sports fans.

    Yes, it's a difficult decision.

So, a quarter of a pound. That makes it about three and a half pounds for the 12.1" vs. five and a half pounds for the 15.4" screen. Two pounds plus the extra dimensions of width.

I wish I had some sort of formula :p

    performance + keyboard + GPU +dimensions
    ---------------------------------------
    weight + thermals + OS + non-outsourced service

    ........

I think I somehow made an acute triangle with a hypotenuse slope divided by zero.

    This is why I have a B.A.

    You just broke teh 1nt3rn3tz

Carry around 2 lbs with you for a few days and see how you feel (few extra books or something)
    I don't think you'll need a t9300, from what I've read it's a miniscule performance increase for a huge price.

LED ALWAYS comes with the 2.0MP Webcam on the M1530

However, LED comes with the VGA Webcam ONLY on the M1330.

Thats the way it has always been.

    if u looked at youtube

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=xBcvxrXybTM

    u'd see a big difference b/w the m1330 and m1530.... probably a bigger diff b/w the m1530 and asus

think about te m1330? (though lower graphics card and probably more expensive than the asus)
