    Howdy-

I got my XPS 16 a few days ago (was going to hold out for a possible GPU update, but found a great deal at the outlet with the rgb-led, and couldn't wait any longer :) , and I'm going to be traveling a lot with it, so I'd prefer the 6-cell with it's lower profile. Does anyone have a new 6-cell that they want to trade for a brand new 9-cell?

PM me or just reply if anyone's interested. Thanks!

I think many are in your boat as they are all coming with the 9-cell I believe...

I wonder if you could just ask Dell to exchange it.....

The 6-cell fits flush in the XPS 16 and doesn't act as a lift/stand like the 9-cell battery does.

I'll ask Dell if they'll let me switch when I call to request a 130w adapter (I doubt it though...already asked if I could change a config. to the 6-cell when I was originally researching the xps and they said no...their "solution" was to buy an extra 6-cell...). Zippo, it sticks out the bottom probably around .75" (3/4 of an inch). It's good for cooling, but I still want something flush/smaller.

I would switch with you as I have a 6 cell that has only been charged to full with zero discharges but I fear that Dell would give me hell if when the battery began to die and I wanted a replacement (I have the 4 year full service contract) that they wouldn't accept the 9 cell and would just send me a 6 cell even if they did.

they will only cover your battery for a year, even if you have 4 years service

    Matt,

I thought that is was only one battery swap during your warranty period. Not coverage only for a year....

    Does anyone know for sure?
