Sadly I have not. I don't think it's going to be any different than the last version though. I couldn't maintain over 2GHz on my i7-7Y75 even under light workloads (after undervolting and repasting), and the 8th gens are listed at a higher TDP. My battery life was also only ok at around 5-8 hours depending on the task. I got much better battery life out of the 9350 and 9360's that I had.

Over all if you don't need a very powerful system I think it's built nice and is super compact. If you're doing anything even remotely demanding, I'd look elsewhere.

I am doing what I do with my insprion 13 5000, photo/video editing, blog and website creation etc. I don't game. I do some 3d cad stuff for my wood working business. BUT this computer handles it, I would love to have that 4k screen. My battery life right now is 2.5 hrs so ANYTHING 5 or above would be a god send. I am seriously thinking about moving to a 15 XPS 2 in 1 but I am not sure on the size where we travel a lot.

I thought you had ordered the 15" 2-in-1 and didn't like it's size?

What are the specs of your current laptop? If they aren't too far off than the 13 2-in-1 should work for you.

yes. I did. And like I said, I was and still am unsure of the size. I held off on buying the xps 13 2 in 1 since they were releasing an updated one.

I cannot remember the CPU, but I have the inspiron 13 5000 2 in 1 right now. with 16gb of ram, and 2 tb SSHD. I am sure that the xps will be fine. for the little time I spent with the xps 15 2 in 1, it was was plenty fast. As you know I am not a benchmarker etc. I just use my computers and they work.

The 15 was a little big, but maybe it would work on a plane, I am not 100% sure. I did like having the extra screen size as I am not getting any younger.

I have decided to order another 15 ha ha … damn me and my ways! I think it will be fine in tent mode on a plane. One thing, I Can update the drive on the 15 correct? I never opened it up when I had it.

Yes you can upgrade the SSD, just not the ram :(

I know, it sucks you can't update the ram. Apple trickle down "technology" ha ha. But also awesome you can update the SSD, save some cash this time and order the smallest SSD with 16gb of ram, and buy a 2 tb for the same price as 1 tb from dell.

Custom90gt, how will the 4k version scale down on my 24" touchscreen monitor?

If you're running the 24" as your main screen it'll run it at whatever resolution you want it at. You can also run it as a secondary screen with the correct resolution as well. If you mean duplicating the screen then I believe you need to run both monitors at the max supported resolution between the two (say 1080p or whatever your 24" is). I'm not sure if that's what you were asking?

Yes it is. Thanks. I never even plugged it into the monitor last time I had it. Just turned it on used it for a few hours at the desk, and figured it's too big and returned it.
