I am sending in my xps 15 to dell for collection and repair/replacement of the motherboard. Anybody have experiences with the service, how long does it usually take. They specified 7 to 12 business days which worries me. I have heard it rarely takes that long.

If you are sending it in by mail, then your experience should be as expected. Plan for 7-12 days. If it comes back earlier, consider it a gift. Delays are usually determined by their service case volume, and by parts inventory. If you are lucky and send your laptop in when Dell support isnt busy, and when they have parts on hand, then you might get it back faster.

Keep in mind that Dell uses separate repair groups for mail-in vs. on-site service. Mail-in service uses centralized repair workshops that handle larger volume and have better quality control in their processes. On-site service uses smaller local contracted repair groups, where Dell has less ability to control for quality.

Yes you can return to a UK repair centre, in fact the basic warranty is RTB (or some parts can be sent to your door for self fit) hard drives & ram normally, not onsite.
