... WITHOUT going into the BIOS?

Honestly, I love media keys, but they interfere with some of my gaming, and it is a major PITA to restart and change the setting every time I want to game for a little bit.

Is there any way to change this on my L501x, running a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit?

    Thanks

Press the gears symbol on the touch sensitive shortcut keystrip. There's an option for switching the functionality.

...after you install Dell Quickset again of course.

I installed the Quickset utility. I wonder what changes it is making. Perhaps a registry entry?

Go to "Windows Mobility Centre" by clicking the third flat button [icon = two small wheels] from the right on the panel where your "Power" button is located .

In "Windows Mobility Centre", on the extreme left hand lower corner you will find "Fn Key Row", change either to "multimedia key" or "function key" . Et viola!

Yea, sucks that I have to install a program to do it. I wish there was another way.
