I'm considering upgrading my bios to A07 (latest?). Any reason NOT to do it? Has anyone found any issue with this latest BIOS?

    Thanks.

The only reason not to do it is that if for some reason your power cuts out then your laptop will brick and you will have to ask Dell to fix it (idk whether they could solder on a new chip or if they would charge you for a whole new mobo)

He meant if the power went out while flashing the new bios, before it was completed it might brick.

That's not a problem with that particular bios, it's a problem for all bios updates, it can't be helped. If it cuts out half way through writing the new bios and you try to reboot it, you have only half the bios on there and you can't fix it because it won't run. The bios is the deepest level of the computer, everything runs on it, it runs on no lower level, it's the bones of the system.

Think of it like this, the OS runs on the bios and everything else runs on the OS, the bios is like the foundations. Think about it and it will make sense

Sorry. I understand all this. I just thought you meant the updated laptop could brick. Didn't know you meant during the flashing.

You will be fine though, poer cuts are onl really a problem for desktops, laptops have a battery should the power supply fail, if you want to be really safe you could even clean the contacts of the battery. The chance of the battery and power supply failng at the same time are rediculously slim though

The BIOS update utility will not allow you to flash the BIOS unless it detects both a battery and AC power source plugged in, for that exact reason.

That's true, but the real danger is the computer crashing for some other reason completely unrelated to the BIOS upgrade. That's not exactly out of the realm of possibility and can happen even with the battery and power both working fine.
