    Hey,

sorry posting another one of these threads but I need some quick help here -

My XPS M1530 is about to get replaced and I've been offered an XPS 16 with the following specs:

    Full HD RGBled screen
    C2D T9900
    HD 3670 (512mb)
    300GB 7200rpm HDD
    4 GB RAM

I've asked them if I could get the 4670 card instead and got a reply saying that is not an option with this model. The rep stated they have an 'integrated' HD 565v solution available - is this really an integrated card?

I tried searching for it but couldn't easily find anything - I understand this is just a renamed 4670, some sort of marketing trick similar to those nVidia always does?

Would the HD 565v actually be a better choice than the 3670?

I'm fine with the Core 2 Duo and overall this seems a real upgrade, just need some clarification regarding these graphics chips.

Thanks in advance, I need the new laptop as quickly as possible and greatly appreciate any input.

    j-p

565v is a 4670. Nothing is different about the chip at all. They just named it that and even when you do get your system it will be displayed as a 4670. So defiantly ask for the 565v it is MILES ahead of the 3650

Hmm whatever you ask for just keep in mind that the SXPS 16 is currently in end of life state. Here in india we dont have sxps 1645/47 model anymore and the 1640 would be histoy soon.

Also 1640/45 has bigtime heating and throttling issues. thats the very reason the are discontinuing sxps 16. I am also about to get an replacement here in india the difference is i would be getting the newer model.

If you are fine with it then its your call.
Dont you have any other option ??.

Not everyone experiences throttling. My 1640 did now my 1645 doesn't. And there isn't a heating issue. Maybe in India where you already have high ambient temps it causes extreme temps on your 1645. Also there has been no official statement from Dell. So don't go around spreading rumors.
