About a month ago, I suggested that the reason the M1530 was delayed was because Dell was trying to get it configured with a 8600GT. Even I doubted that would be possible with respect to the amount of work created to change and integrated video card but....

    Voila!!!

Not only is the new M1530 once again jumping to the head of the pack but its price is absolutely amazing!!!

Way to go Dell!!!!! Tempted to move up...or just get another lol.

Ya but check out the pricing!!! They dropped blueray to 300 bux, 4Gb ram is less as well as pretty much everything else. I can configure this system for far less than any other right now. This really surprised me.

Shows how competition works. Think Dell will get any marketshare over this? Absolutely.

And with respect to LED...you may see it fade for awhile until quality control can be improved. There have been alot with bleeding and buckling as well as some going opaque after a few months use.

What did you predict, exactly? We don't have any information to suggest this wasn't there plan all along; the delays could have to do with countless issues. You have information showing they actually abandoned a design and redeisgned parts to accomodate the 8600GT?

Don't really see how this is a prediction at all when Dell prolly had 8600GT lined up from the get go... (after all, it is offered in other 15.4" notebooks). They got plenty of room to work with... lots of foot-space with 15.4" and it's still 1.38" thick in the back... Though a bit slimmer than a 1520 but nothing to write home about.

But I guess you're looking for props and so to make you happy. ummmmm Good Job?

Holy $%!@ thats a good price. So glad I moved my 1520 before that sucker came out. I say give it a few months though to let the problems surface.

I swore after receiving and returning my Vostro I would never look at Dell again. But that price is unbelievable. So tempting haha. I have been looking for a laptop for quite some time now so I may have to take another shot with Dell. \

Being in Canada my options are pretty limited...it just seems like receiving a good laptop from Dell is a game of luck :(

Just wanted to let you know that my 1330 exchange for the 1530 has been approved! woot!!!

I'll post the specs of it later when it shows under my account. I know you didn't believe me before but I had faith in my contact and he definitely was true to his word. I am EXTREMELY happy with Dell these days :)

Flamenko, I myself was VERY impressed with your prediction :) And it looks like a great laptop. I do love my D630 for now. Interesting that the LED screen option went away. Dave

Why? Just because the screen resolution is lower than expected?
Go configure it on Dell.com and you will see that you can't beat those prices for the specs.....

Combined with weight / battery life etc. I think this compares closely with the FZ not with the MBP as expected... and the FZ was just mediocre... although it probably has better build quality...

Why is it better than the Vaio FZ?

I didn't say anything about sony - you claimed it was a dud without even seeing a review, let alone having the system in front of you to judge it yourself. You have been pretty negative not only on this thread, but pretty much every other 1530 thread as well.

We get your opinion - you don't like the 1530. So why are you still posting about it?

I wonder what is the point of releasing this machine in an ultra - portable laptop?
It's not like your going to have alot of fun gameing with shared RAM and a mid range Nvidia card. expect your fps to be arround 30 and dropping drastically in actions which is not competatively playable.
And for graphics apps like photoshop or maya or CAD even a low end card should suffice.
So if you want something portable I would recommend getting something thinner and smaller.

    Well, the 8600GT has 256MB dedicated - not shared. I have a M1710 for gaming :)

The 1530 will be more for productivity and LIGHT gaming (for me, at least)....

I meant regular RAM I'm not talking about vRAM. And 256 is a bit low for a video card they have 512 8800's.

Yeah, I don't understand where your going with this. The only time RAM is shared - as you stated- is when it is SHARED with the video card.

What's up with only one resolution size showing up? 1280x800 is mediocre ... why can't they give the resolution sizes that are available on their other 15.4 laptops? Is this only on the US Dell site?

I want to like it. If you've seen me posting before the specs were known you would have known I was not negative about the M1530... I'm not completely still.. In terms of value (specially if you can get Inspiron coupons to work) this is really good value, it just isn't the mac book pro killer that I was hoping to spend my money on.

Here in the UK they are pretty much on a par, but only because the M1330 has an offer on at the moment due to end in 2 days so there may be a difference when that ends, but at the moment an M1330 with 250GB HD, T7500, 128MB 8400GS, CCFL, 2GB RAM costs £919 (it has £100 off at the moment), a similarly spec'd M1530 also costs £919 but has an included fingerprint reader that seems to be standard on the M1530 but this has no discount! We also have a 10% Dell coupon active at the moment so that takes about £90 off either config - in fact I've just ordered an M1330 with the above config + LED backlight for £872.00 with the 10% coupon so that's almost £200 off the supposed standard price, seemed too good to resist :)

At 1st glance I was thinking of sending back the 1520, but upon further inspection some key features were to much of a step down but I do suggest other people looking for a nice looking Dell at a good price M1530 is a great option.

Well it has finger reader and webcam, HDMI, looks nicer and priced cheaper then the 1520.

If I had the xpsm1530 vs 1520 as an option when I config'd my system I would have choose the 1530 because it offers the the T7500, bio reader, hdmi, webcam all for the same original price I paid at time of my order.
    Killer Deal.

If this had the HD2600 I would return my 1520, True HDMI features open up.
