So I saw the m1330 today and I thought the wait for the perfect laptop was over...until I saw the graphics card. m8400GS doesn't cut it for me. Does anyone know if it's possible to somehow negotiate for an m8600GT in the m1330 over the phone, or if perhaps a revision of the 1330 is coming later with a more powerful graphics card? Heck, i just want something with more bandwidth than my 3 yr old desktop graphics card! None of this 64bit stuff...

Other than the above, everything about the laptop (at least that I know so far) tells me its awesome!

no you cannot get am 8600gt in it. for now, it's not possible due thermal issues.

Ok Ok...that makes sense...but to put a reverse twist on it: would it be possible to get an inspiron 1520 with LED backlighting? Or am I asking for the best of both worlds here lol...

Right now the only 15" with LED-backlighting I know of is MacBook Pro, and it also has a good graphics card.

However, I think we'll see more LED-backlit screens over the next year or so. I also think they'll roll out a 15" XPS at some point... though I can't say when that might be.

The LED-backlighting may not be as awesome as you might think though. I've seen it at the Apple store... and the difference is fairly subtle. It's nice, but it probably won't blow you away.

I think the biggest deal with the LED backlighting is the increased battery efficiency.

Apparently the backlights don't fade/wear out as quickly either.

LED backlighting isn't one of those things thats gonna catch your eye instantly and make you go,"WOW"! It is hardly noticeable to my eyes.
