I am about to order one of these and had a few questions.

    1. Is the the $30 premium of N6200 worth paying over the standard N1000?

    2. Did you get Bluetooth and Backlit keyboard? ($20 and $25 premium respectively)

    3. I am in Canada and the basic Core i5-460 with 6 gigs ram, 500gig, and GT420 is $899.99 (This is without bluetooth, backlit keyboard, and N6200 wireless card).

Would I be able to get a sale by calling in? Are there any specials I should be waiting for?

Overall, would I see a great increase in performance over my MBP 13 and is it a good time to buy the XPS 14?

    Thanks

I don't know the specs of your MBP 13 but the new XPS are beasts in performance. I've got a XPS 15 with i7 and 8GB ram and it handles everything with little more than 30% CPU and 40% GPU load. I think the XPS 14 is almoust as powerful. Even with the i5 and 6 GB ram (which is normall more than enough) Unfortunately the backlit keyboard has not been available in Germany at launch so I went without it.
Also the N1000 is the only available wireless card here in germany and I'm totally satisfied with it.

I hope that helps you with your decision.

Don't call them. In Germany they charge 30€ for telephone order. Additionally you may find some coupons and discounts codes for your area.

There are many Dell coupons floating around the web, just do a google seach. I saved over $300 with coupons. Also, if you go to school, Dell EPP will give u a student discount too
the backlit keyboard is a very nice feature and I think almost everyone added it, and I have a USB bluetooth thing so I didn't add that and plus I never use it.

Be aware of the grainy screen. I'm having big problems editing photos and reading text.

you can upgrade to the 900p LG screen for about $90. Doesn't void your warranty either, I checked with Dell.

You'll get a performance increase for sure, but that's about it. I personally find the form factor, build quality, and power envelope of the MBP 13 preferable to that of the XPS 14. Unless you actually need the extra processing or graphical power, I wouldn't switch.
