Hi guys! I saw in some threats that said you can get Geforce 9800 into XPS 1730. But when I got to Dell website, I couldn't see where Geforce 9800 was, but 8700. It is said that "The Dell MediaDirect feature is not compatible with the NVIDIA® SLI™ Dual GeForce® 9800M series video solutions", I wonder if there is any chance for me to get 9800 since it has 1024MB. If it's possible, please show me!
    Thank you

Order it via Dell's EPP program. You must be a Student or an employee of an organization which participates in the EPP program to place an order.

You can view the EPP site via (just click the link re: not knowing your organization code to access the site to view):

    http://www.dell.com/epp

Keep in mind, this does not mean the 9800M will not vanish from the site as well. Its there @ the moment, however for whatever reason (lack of inventory, removal of product line, etc) it may go *poof*. We just don't know since there has been no official word.

As for the Dell MediaDirect compatibility statement, I don't know. MediaDirect is nothing more than a player at this point (version 4). I can't see how it would be incompatible. Even if it does have an issue, there are numerous other players out there.

I just chat with an Agent from Dell about this issue, and the answer is the promotion is no longer available from yesterday.
So probably I will go back to the option of Geforce 8800M GTX Sli.

Knowing that there is major difference between dual geforce 9800 sli and dual (1024mb) and geforce 8700 sli (512mb). I just have one question is that should I give up 4 gig of ram to get 9800 and just 2 gig of ram. Any suggestion?

Why not - aftermarket memory is much cheaper than Dell OEM.

Please tell me whether I should I get this or not when the price seems quite scary to me.
