It's getting kind of frustrating, shopping on the US site, coming up with a nice configuration at a good price, and then going to the Canadian site, having half the options, and paying 1/3rd more versus strict currency exchange.

Are there ANY deals to be had for Canadians right now? I don't know when the next Mystery Coupon will be on, and otherwise I can find zero ways to get any sort of discount on a new Studio XPS 13.

Us Canadians always get the short end of the stick.

Yup. Canadians always get the shaft when it comes to consumer electronics. Although, not as bad as other places.

Q: Are Dells sold in Canada, assembled in Canada... or are they assembled in USA and shipped over here?

Apparently, if you buy from Alienware, then you don't get ripped off as a Canadian. The price is the same as in US, just the exchange rate.

Yeah, even when USA was getting hammered with weekly 25% off deals on XPS laptops... Canadians got no such thing and had horrendous "Days of Deals" offers in comparison. It's good to be American?

I donno guys. I was expecting to be pissed comparing the latitude and precision laptops and found that even without the supposed discount in the states the price was either the same or slightly better for Canada. With the Latitude it was almost identical (with a -370 US$ discount) after factoring in exchange and the precision was actually slightly cheaper in Canada with no discounts. There was a freebie LCD monitor thrown in for one PC that I ignored but that was it.

A simple test with the Studio XPS 13 found 1928 C$ vs 1818 US$ which works out to 2164 C$ converted. This is almost $250 in the favor of the good people of the North. P8600, LED, 3yr warranty, etc.

Are you using XE for the current exchange rate? Are you comparing apples to apples -- the options and order is different between the two websites so it's easy to get confused.

It used to be that the Dell stuff that required assembly was shipped from the States but I don't know if that's true any longer. I doubt anything is actually made in the US.
