I have an XPS 15 9560 with 512gb ssd, i7, 4K, and it keeps on randomly becoming completely unresponsive. I did a clean install twice, once the 1st time I was having problems and then again when I was still having problems and I called dell support and they told me to do another clean install. The dell extended diagnostics shows no errors. Everything is properly installed in device manager including the latest HD graphics driver from intel and not the latest graphics from nvidia because that one doesn't work. And while I'm doing work my computer will just become completely unresponsive and the only way I can get it working again is by holding the power button and restarting it. The happens every few minutes and it's driving me insane, Dell said I should send it in but I'm in the middle of a semester with Programming homework and I don't have another laptop. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

    Any blue screens?

Any error codes in event viewer?

    What SSD do you have?

What storage controller drivers are you using?

I can tell you that if you have a samsung drive and you're running the samsung nvme driver 2.1, you need to dump it for 2.0.

I got a few critical_process_died while setting up the drivers, but it isn't happening anymore.
I have a samsung ssd and I have the Samsung NVMe driver version 2.1.0.1611, I'll try downgrading it.
And it seems like the error I keep on getting in event viewer is The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device BTHLEDevice\.....

I just installed the 2.0 drivers and I also switched out the Killer 1535 for an Intel 8260 I had just in case, becauseI think the error says something about Bluetooth LE.

So even after reverting the driver I'm still getting freezes and I also just had a blue screen, dell support assist says it was caused by Samsung_NVMeDriver_2.0.exe

Dell support is full of idiots. Dunno what to tell you though, I had random freezing issues with 2.1 but 2.0 works great for me.

A Dell technician came in today and replaced my motherboard and now the problem is gone. So it was definitely Hardware because I still have the same Windows installation that had the problem

I'm on the 9550 and the culprit was also the Samsung NVME v2.1 drivers. I've actually gone back to the RAID setup and everything has been running so much smoother ever since.

Suggestions are pointing towards using the previous Samsung NVME 2.0 driver for stability.
    What ssd are you using?
