After a month of using my laptop, today is actually the first day I'm trying out this slot load drive. I inserted a CD given by my instructor, it was running really slow and some cranky / buzzing noise could be heard from it. I mean is it normal ? It loads kinda slow too. Anyone has this problem ?

    It's a full-size disc, right?

I'm not sure what that could mean but a faulty drive. Were you tilting the laptop when you put it in or when the disc was spinning?

Yes it is. A standard CD size. The laptop is laid slightly tilted because I'm having it on a Notepal Infinity cooler. That shouldn'e be a problem right. I mean it does load but it's just slow..

Hmm...it shouldn't be a problem, but try without the cooler.

Do other discs do this or is it just this one?

I would say it runs a little bit smoother w/o the cooler. But is that the main reason behind it ?

Oh, and the discs are literally the only discs I have =S

It's debatable...technically, you're not supposed to have to tilted while the disc is in use, but coolers don't tilt that much and I believe someone in another thread said that they can auto-correct somewhat for tilting: gyroscopes?

Ah...you don't have the restore discs or the driver discs?

Maybe you are in power saving mode so it runs at a slower speed?
