I just got my xps m1530 and it is perfect  However, I downloaded the driver update from dell and my screen went blurry and became disfunctional. I immediatly restarted and there were and have been no problems since I installed the newer driver from windows update. Any newer drivers from dell or laptop2video that are completely stable? And work fantastically?

    P.S.
(I ran company of heroes with my current driver with all settings on ultra high on my 1440x900 LED resolution and got an average frame rate [they call average 23.1 fps]. Should I be getting higher?) ~t8300 2.4ghz system with 4gb ram

I'm using Dell's 174.31 drivers, and they work well for me.

Why doesn't Dell list the 174.31 drivers for the M1530? The driver download page still shows 156.63, which was the original release back in November. I know that you can download the 174.31 drivers from the M1330 list (or experiment with other drivers at laptopvideo2go), but Dell sure is slow about driver updates.

Still can't understand why Dell doesn't list 174.31 drivers for the M1530. Maybe the M1530 team is too busy deciding on the next color for the case. Anyway, why is the Dell version of 174.31 a 53 MB file and the laptopvideo2go version a 33 MB file?

My XPS 1530 arrived on friday with the 174.31 drivers installed. An extremely busy weekend has meant that I havent really had a chance to look at it until tonight (not entirely true, spent an hour on the phone to dell on friday arranging a technician to change my screen, yup, the samsung grainy hell!, he is coming tomorrow).

Anyway, thought I'd clean out most of the bloatware and run some tests with it as standard. Have to say I'm fairly happy.

    Driver 174.31
    3dMark 06 - 4735
    GPU Temp 72
    CPU Temp 70

Looking forward to overclocking but I'll wait and see what happens with my new screen tomorrow.

I got 169.04, I haven't updated since December. Would updating give me better FPS?

I would say give it a shot. 174.31 is a good driver.

I notice on the dell website, for the 1330 it shows the 174.31 driver available.. but it says that its for the 8400GS, 8600GS, and 8600M... not the 8600GT... are you guys certain that I'm looking in the right place?

"Video: nVidia GeForce 8400M, GeForce 8400M GS, GeForce 8600M, Driver, Windows Vista 32-bit, Multi Language, Multi System, v.174.31 V32, A06"

    Thanks

8600M is the 8600M GT, which is the 8600 GT for the laptop. Generally, all NVIDIA drivers work for an entire range, so it would work for the entire NVIDIA 8xxx range, and possibly others. Although, Dell might only have INFs that support the models it slated above.

In Control Panel > System click the "Hardware" tab and select the "Device Manager" button. Once opened, expand the "Display adapters" list item, and double click "NVIDIA GeForce...." which should appear. Go to the "Driver" tab once the popup appears, and note the "Driver version" number there.

I upgraded to the latest 174.31, and while playing TF2. I would get random crashes where the sound would stall, and my screen would flicker so I immediately shut down via Task Manager (to prevent seizure :p)

Is this common with this driver? I had used 169.04 before and that was semi-okay. Is it okay to go back?
