I don't really get used to glossy screens and I often get to work with a window behind me, so it just sucks. But notebooks with a matte screen often cost much more or don't have the specs I want.
So I went with a 3M Vikuiti ARMR200 Antiglare foil for my 1645.
And as I got a replacement for my 1645 yesterday (The old one had so many issues that I could convince Dell to just replace it), I could do a side by side comparison of both.

Now what can I say about it?
    - It is a serious pain in the a** to put this thing on without getting any dust under it. Believe me. Dust is every where unless you got a clean rooom.
    - You have to fit it very carefully, because it only has the size of the actual LCD-Screen.
    - It does its job very well...
    - ...but you get some fair amount of grain on your display.

I think I tried to put it on like ten times or so. I ended up just putting some water on the screen and on the filter. That was the easiest way to get it on. I just had to push out the water to the edges afterwards. Unless all of my efforts there is still some dust left. But it is only at the bottom of the screen and I do not want to lift it up again, because cleaning one dust particle will get you at least three new ones in.

Actually I don't really know if this was worth the money. I have to wait if I will get used to the grain. Could be that I just throw this thing away in some days. Mostly because there is no possibility to get it on dust free. And with that I am sort of a perfectionist. Let's see...

When it comes to contrast and color I do not see much of a difference. I didn't take some colour shots, because my cell phone camera does no good job ;)

Enough of the words, here are the pictures [The replacement got the antiglare after I swapped their harddrives]:

not really much of an improvement, as there is still much reflection off the screen. You should have sent the problematic machine to me for free :D

In fact there is much of an improvement if it comes to reflections!
But the pros of this thing are smaller than the cons, so I think I will be going without the filter. As much as I don't want dust behind the screen I don't want it "in front" of it ;)

I am surely not giving away my 1645 ;) I like the machine and could not find many alternatives to it. Every other thing has some odds (resolution, cpu, gpu or mostly price).

Afterwards I would say the vikuiti is not worth its money if you are not able to access a clean room to applicate this thing to your screen.
