    Hi all,

last night I ran 3Dmark06 on my SXPS16 with 3670 GPU, and I was surprised by the way it ran (in a negative way). The machine is all standard Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit as it will be replaced by a similar machine with 4670 GPU. Specs are as displayed below (only with the 3670 GPU instead of the 4670).

I downloaded and installed 3Dmark 06 and left all settings to standard. I did not enter a license code, so I was not able to edit the default settings. I then ran the default test. In average I got a framerate of 8 to 9 FPS. At one point it starts a processor benchmark where it got 1 frame per second! Total score for the machine is 2906 points!

The animations and tests ran totally awful... Is this the normal performance of the machine in this test? Will / Should it perform better with a clean install?

well, 2906 points it definitely not normal, my 5 yrs old pentium 4 pc with 7600gt overscores that.

Thanks for all replies. I did a total clean install of the OS (with the default Dell drivers) and tried 3d mark06 again. It's now running a bit smoother (eventhough I'm still not impressed) and it also looks like it runs a bit cooler now somehow... The system now idles around 45 to 47 degrees, where with the default Dell install it idled around 50 to 52 degrees...

Anyway, 3dmark 06 now gives me 4501, which I think is not too bad of a score for this system. I definately can sleep better now... ;)

he have Vista 32.bit. (plus he did a clean setup....all bloatware ,etc gone)

for the record, here is a BIG test with Ati 3670 512mb........enjoy :)

Ok, and what are the specs of you friend's system? Did he have an SSD for example? What processor did he have? In other words, how did the specs of his system compare to mine?
