I asked this within another thread , but nobody answered , so maybe as a separate thread someone will .
Specifically re the L702x , and even generally :
    Will a regular non-3D BluRay 1080 movie play on a non-3D display , noticeably better than on a 3D one , assuming they are both 1920 X 1080 ?

The only difference between LCD panels is that the 3D one is 120hz. The non-3D panel is 60hz. Will the 120hz panel result in smoother playback? I'm not sure, this would be nice though.

They should look pretty much identical, all other things about the screens being equal. The only difference is that a 3D screen in 2D mode has a 120 Hz refresh rate while the non-3D screen would have a normal 60 Hz refresh rate. However, it is possible that the 120 Hz screen could actually be better if the movie is encoded at 24 fps (because 120 is evenly divisible by 24).

Thanks ZippoMan and DakkonA - I am pleasantly surprised to hear that the refresh rate is the only difference .
DakkonA , you mention "3D screen in 2D mode" . Is this a setting that has to be applied manually , or just automatically sensed by the display or software ?

It all depends on the quality of screen, but having 3D does not mean your 2D viewing will be worse.

Did Dell get a good quality screen? That is just something we will have to wait to find out when more reviews/comparisons come out.

Like they said above 120z could actually be better due to the refresh rates especially on action scenes but to be honest on a screen this size I would expect them to look the same.
